Cupping has been recieving lots of attention in the media lately: there have been pictures on the internet of Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston with reddened circular marks on their backs. These marks aren’t bruises contrary to popular belief, they are the typical signs that cupping has helped bring toxins to the surface of the skin where they can be released. Often Cupping is used for chest congestion and Asthma, but it has wide ranging applications, and is also great for releasing tight muscle tissue and for relieving pain. As a Certified Cupping Therapist I am able to assess and treat you with the proper Cupping techniques that will help you to heal more quickly and with complete safety.
The way it works?: By creating suction, tissues are lifted upwards, thereby making room for fresh blood and oxygen to reach the area. The suction of the cups rapidly facilitates rigid soft tissue release by pulling it up and away from underlying structures, thus loosening areas of adhesion or restriction. It has so many uses, and provides benefits for the skin, muscles, circulatory and respiratory systems, nervous system digestive system and the joints. Make sure you go to a practitioner who has been certified in these techniques to ensure safety and efficacy.
